Welcoming our new Master

John Swain was installed as Master of the Company in July.

Born and bred in Sheffield, John has been a member of the Company since 1996, having been proposed by Dil Scrivens. For most of his working life John worked for Tinsley Wire group and was for many years Group Sales and Marketing director. He was also a non-executive director of the Sheffield City Trust, the organisation running the sport and leisure facilities in Sheffield.

Following John’s installation as Master, he welcomed around 140 friends and colleagues to dinner in the historic setting of the Mansion House. John’s guest speaker was former Sheffield MP, Rt Hon Richard Caborn.

John will be accompanied throughout his year in office by his wife Wendy, and is looking forward to welcoming many Liverymen and guests in what looks like a very busy year ahead .
